What Clients Say About EDIM:

"The JCAHO Nurse Surveyor loved EDIMS Patient Documentation. He was an ED Nurse, with an ED Directorship on his resume as well and believe me, he scrutinized the documentation thoroughly!

He was impressed by the fact that all our charting was legible, complete and orderly. He was also quite pleased with the medication re-assessment documentation and the pain management documentation. He interviewed one of our staff nurses - the documentation, and its ability to be focused on the patient complaint, were definitely part of that interview. While performing their 'Tracer Methodology', on an open chart from one of the floors, the ED documentation remained clear and concise.

We're very proud of the fact that, as the ED, we received NO deficits during the JCAHO survey, and while we're all aware that documentation is not the only area evaluated by the surveyors, we really do believe that the EDIM Patient Documentation system certainly made it VERY easy for us to comply with current JCAHO documentation standards. I wanted you to know that EDIM was a great success. So, please, let everyone know the results of our survey, and how much we feel EDIM (and all of you) contributed to our success!!"

EDIM Case Study

The Challenge

A hospital Emergency Department in the Northeast provided excellent patient care but, driven by regulatory requirements such as those set forth by the Joint Commission (JCAHO), there was a desire to implement an electronic medical record in order to improve documentation and improve regulatory compliance. As with many hospitals today, in response to budgetary constraints there was a concerted effort underway to improve practices and efficiencies in their ED.

The Solution

A full-suite implementation of EDIM facilitated regulatory compliance through its easy and accurate documentation. The Computerized Physician Order Entry feature (CPOE) made extensive use of order sets to facilitate appropriate test ordering and PRO-ORYX compliance. With the documentation of order completion, EDIM automatically captured all supplies used and procedures performed. EDIM fully automated the calculation of
E & M levels and observation time for each patient visit - all based on national guidelines.

The Result

The use of EDIM greatly enhanced the quality of care and regulatory compliance. The EDIM system was identified as a "best practice" during their last Joint Commission visit and it improved the timeliness and accuracy of hospital billing, which in turn resulted in a 30% increase in charges and a 21% increase in revenues (collections).
